Questions sellers ask

Plain answers about marketplace payouts, deductions and how OrderLens works.

What can OrderLens do for an online seller?

OrderLens is one place for the business side of selling online. It shows what every order really earned and what payment is still to come, profit by product, where every parcel ended (delivered, returned or RTO), what to reorder, what you owe each supplier, and what you will keep at a given price before you list. New tools are added regularly, based on what sellers ask for.

Why is my marketplace payment less than my sales?

Your sales figure is what customers paid. Before the money reaches your bank, the marketplace takes off customer returns, RTO parcels, forward and return shipping, its commission and fees, and two taxes: TCS and TDS. Payments also arrive on their own cycle, so part of a month’s sales is still to come. OrderLens lists every one of these lines so you can see exactly where the difference went.

What are TCS and TDS deducted from my payout?

TCS (tax collected at source) is taken under GST and deposited against your GSTIN. TDS (tax deducted at source) is taken under income tax and deposited against your PAN. Neither is a marketplace fee: TCS counts towards the GST you owe, and TDS towards your income tax. OrderLens shows them separately so they are not mistaken for costs.

What is RTO, and how is it different from a return?

RTO (return to origin) means the parcel never reached the customer. It was refused, or the courier could not deliver it, so it comes back to you. A customer return means the customer received the item and sent it back. They are charged differently, so OrderLens counts them separately.

Which file do I need to download from my seller panel?

The payment (settlement) report, and the orders report if you want order statuses as well. Click Sync on your seller panel and both come in by themselves. Or download them from the payments and orders sections of your seller panel, then upload them to OrderLens.

Which marketplaces does OrderLens work with?

Today OrderLens reads Meesho's payment and order files, for every Meesho store you run. The free profit calculator covers Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, Myntra and Snapdeal. If you sell on another marketplace, write to us: we add marketplaces in the order sellers ask for them.

How do I find my real profit per product?

Upload your payment files, then enter what each product costs you to buy and pack. OrderLens takes the money each order actually earned, subtracts your cost, and shows profit for every product. A product with no cost entered shows as “not set”, never as a fake 100% margin.

Do you need my marketplace login or OTP?

No. OrderLens never asks for a password, OTP or bank details. Either you upload the files yourself, or you click Sync in your own Chrome while you are signed in to your seller panel: the files go straight to your OrderLens account, and we never see or keep your panel login.

What is OrderLens for Sellers, the Chrome extension?

Our free Chrome extension. On your seller panel, click it, then Sync now, and your orders and payments come into OrderLens without you downloading anything. It runs only when you click, once per store per day, using the panel you are already signed in to. On the first sync you choose how far back to go, up to five months. What it reads and keeps is in our privacy policy, under "The OrderLens for Sellers browser extension".

Is my data safe?

Each business’s data is kept separate inside the database so no other account can read it. It is encrypted while it travels and where it is stored, there are no ads or trackers, and your data is never sold. You can delete it at any time.

Is OrderLens free?

Yes, it is free while it is early. If that ever changes, existing users will be told well in advance.

Can OrderLens replace my accountant?

No. It shows you clearly what you earned and where the money went, which makes your accountant’s work easier. But its figures are a decision aid, not certified accounts or tax filings.

How do I sign up?

Create a free account with your email and a password. We email you a 6-digit code to confirm the address. Then name your business, and click Sync on your seller panel or upload your files. If the code does not arrive, write to support@orderlens.shop.
