One customer return takes from your account
₹185
₹175 courier + ₹10 packing
₹27 comes back as GST credit when you file GST
After the ₹27 GST credit this return costs you ₹158: about three quarters of one order's profit (₹215).
This assumes the returned piece comes back fine and goes back into stock.

Say 15% of parcels that reached a customer come back as returns, and 20% of parcels shipped come back as RTO. Shared over the orders that stay, this product makes ₹184.36 per delivered order. The Meesho profit calculator shows ₹184 (it rounds to whole rupees). Whole product, with your own return rate: Meesho profit calculator
Shipping is not a line here because the buyer pays it: the marketplace adds it on top of your price and takes it back from your payment. On real payment files it nets to about ₹0, within about ₹2 an order.

Where ₹175 comes from
In the real payment files we checked, May to October 2026, most customer returns were charged ₹175 in return courier, at product prices from about ₹300 to ₹900. Some stores paid about ₹157. Meesho's shipping page says the return fee is "based on the weight of the shipment" and gives no rate card. Its pricing page says Meesho "will not charge a return shipping fee for any RTOs". Pages checked 14 October 2026. Your own payment file has a Return Shipping Charge column: type yours in the return courier box.
An RTO (the courier could not deliver) costs ₹0 in courier, but the packing is lost. Full explanation: Meesho return and RTO charges.
What this calculator leaves out
- Shipping to the buyer. Shipping is not a line here because the buyer pays it: the marketplace adds it on top of your price and takes it back from your payment. On real payment files it nets to about ₹0, within about ₹2 an order.
- The affiliate fee. On a few returned orders Meesho also keeps an affiliate fee it took earlier (₹9 to ₹48 in the files we checked). Neither this calculator nor the profit calculator counts it.
- A piece that comes back damaged or wrong. The calculator assumes the piece comes back fine. If it does not, raise a claim: how to claim for a Meesho return.
How to use the return and RTO charges calculator
- Type your price on the panel, what one piece costs you and your packing per parcel. Say if you file GST.
- Read the big number: the cash one customer return takes from your account, and how many orders' profit that is.
- Open "See how it is worked out" to check every sum. The return courier is ₹175 unless you change it.
Questions Meesho sellers ask
How many orders does one Meesho return wipe out?
Divide what one return costs you by what one delivered order makes. A ₹499 product that costs you ₹250, with ₹10 packing and 5% GST, makes ₹215 on a delivered order. A return takes ₹185 from your account, and ₹27 of it comes back as GST credit if you file GST, so it costs you ₹158: about three quarters of one order's profit. Without GST it costs ₹185 and a delivered order makes ₹239: about three quarters of one order's profit. At ₹199 with a ₹120 cost, one return wipes out the profit of about 2½ orders. Type your own numbers above to see yours.
Can I claim GST on the Meesho return courier?
If you file GST, yes. The return courier is charged with 18% GST inside it: about ₹27 of ₹175. You claim it back as input credit when you file, and it lowers the GST you pay on your sales. A seller without a GST number, or on the composition scheme, cannot. Pick No for "Do you file GST?" and the calculator takes no credit. Ask your CA if you are not sure.
Do I lose the product on a Meesho return?
Usually not: the piece comes back to you and goes back into stock, and this calculator assumes that. If it comes back wrong, damaged or with items missing, or never comes back, raise a claim. In the payment files we checked, claims paid about 80% of the sale, sometimes less.
What does Meesho take back when an order is returned?
Usually only the return courier. Meesho charges 0% commission. If the return comes before you are paid, only the return courier is charged: no forward shipping, TCS or TDS. If it comes after you were paid, Meesho takes the sale back, gives the forward shipping, TCS and TDS back, and charges the return courier, so you still lose the return courier. On a few returned orders Meesho also keeps an affiliate fee it took earlier.
Return or RTO: which costs a Meesho seller more?
A customer return. It pays the return courier (₹175 on most returns in the files we checked) plus the packing: ₹185 with ₹10 packing. An RTO has no courier charge in the files, so it costs only the packing: ₹10. Both also lose any ads you spent on that parcel, and an RTO piece is away until the courier brings it back.
