Meesho return percentage calculator by product
A product's return % is its customer returns divided by its orders that reached a buyer. Its RTO % is the parcels the courier brought back undelivered, divided by the parcels shipped that finished their trip (not counting ones still on the way). Drop your orders and returns files to see both for each product, with the number each one divides by.
No files at hand? (made-up orders).
This tool joins two files once. OrderLens reads your Meesho orders, payments and returns files each time you upload them and keeps your customer return % and your returns by product, with the reasons. Free while we are early. See what OrderLens shows
Which files to drop
Download the orders file and the returns file from your supplier panel, for the same dates, and drop both as they are (both are CSV files). If you have one returns file for parcels that reached you and one for parcels still on the way back, drop both. The claims and payments files are not needed here.
From the orders file the tool reads the sub-order number, order date, status, SKU, size and product name. From the returns file it reads the sub-order number, whether it is a customer return or an RTO, the day the return was made and the buyer's reason. The lines at the top of the returns file with your name and email are skipped and never shown.
How to read the table
- Return % is out of the parcels that reached customers. RTO % (the courier brought it back undelivered) is out of the parcels shipped that finished their trip (not counting ones still on the way). Each cell shows both numbers.
- A product with fewer than 10 parcels that reached customers says "too few to judge": one return more or less would change its % a lot.
- Orders placed in the last 14 days before your returns file ends are left out, and the dates stop there: a buyer sends a parcel back up to about two weeks after the order, so their returns are still coming.
- The top reason shows once a product has 5 or more customer returns; below that it says "too few returns to tell". Click a product for all its reasons and, if it sells in two or more sizes, its return % by size.
- The table puts the products with the most customer returns first, and the ones too few to judge after them. The page lists your top 20; the totals count every row.

Questions Meesho sellers ask
How is the return percentage worked out?
A product's return % is its customer returns divided by its parcels that reached a buyer: the ones delivered plus the ones sent back. Its RTO % is the parcels the courier brought back undelivered, divided by the parcels shipped that finished their trip (not counting ones still on the way): delivered, sent back or RTO. Orders still on the way and cancelled orders are in neither. For example, 120 parcels shipped with 14 customer returns and 11 RTO: 14 ÷ (120 − 11) = 12.8% return rate, and 11 ÷ 120 = 9.2% RTO. Every row in the table shows both numbers, so you can check the sum.
Why does it need the returns file as well as the orders file?
Because the orders file says "Delivered" for most parcels a buyer sent back. It shows where a parcel went first, not whether it came back: in the files we checked, it said Delivered for 261 of 266 customer returns. The returns file lists each return and RTO by its sub-order number, and the tool matches the two files on that number. A return in the returns file counts even when the orders file still says Delivered.
Why are some orders "still on the way"?
The orders file still says shipped, ready to ship or pending for them, and the returns file has no return for them. Nobody knows yet whether the buyer keeps them, so they are counted neither as delivered nor as returned. Download fresh files in a week or two and drop them again to count them.
What is a normal return % on Meesho?
Meesho does not publish one, so we do not show one. Compare a product with your own other products instead: the table puts the products with the most returns at the top, and each row shows the orders it counts, so a product with only a few orders does not look worse than it is.
Can I type my counts instead of dropping files?
Yes. Under "No files? Type your counts", type the parcels you shipped (leave out the ones still on the way), the customer returns and the RTO. With 120 shipped, 14 returns and 11 RTO you get a 12.8% return rate and 9.2% RTO. You get one rate for all your products together, not one per product.
