SKU ID generator and checker

A SKU ID is your own code for one product, like KRT-BLU-01 for a blue kurti, design 01. Type the product and its colours to get one ID each, checked to be unique and short.

  • The SKU IDs and the CSV are made inside this browser tab. Nothing you type or paste is sent to OrderLens or anyone else.
  • Only the look you pick (dash, capitals, number) is kept in this browser for next time. Never what you type.
  • If you choose a folder to save in, only your folder choice is kept, in this browser. The files stay in your folder.

What a SKU ID is

A SKU ID is the code you give one product you sell. You choose it, not the marketplace. It comes back on your orders, labels and payment files, so a short, clear one tells you at a glance which piece to pack, which one came back and which one makes money.

KRT-BLU-01 reads as: KRT for kurti, BLU for blue and 01 for your design number. On Meesho one SKU ID can cover every size, because size has its own column. Flipkart and Amazon need one SKU ID per size, so there you add the size: KRT-BLU-M-01, KRT-BLU-L-01.

Length and characters each marketplace allows

  • Amazon: up to 40 characters; letters, numbers, - and _ are safe; a SKU ID cannot be changed after listing. Reported by seller tools that quote Amazon's help pages.
  • Flipkart: no published length found; letters and numbers are advised; a SKU ID cannot be changed after listing. Reported by a listing service's Flipkart checklist, and by a listing partner's Flipkart FAQ (Fynd): once you give a listing a SKU ID, you are not allowed to change it.
  • Meesho: we found no open Meesho page with a length or character rule, or one on renaming.

So the checker uses one safe line for all of them: 40 characters or fewer, only letters, numbers, - and _, and no two IDs the same when capital letters are ignored. Checked 21 Oct 2026. Check your seller panel if a marketplace refuses an ID.

Why every SKU ID here has a number

Some stock and report tools skip a SKU ID that has no number in it. So the maker puts your design number in every ID, and the checker points out any ID without one.

How to make SKU IDs

  1. Type what you sell (Kurti) and your design number (01). Add the colours, and packs if it has them, with commas between them. Add sizes only for Flipkart or Amazon.
  2. Look at the short codes. Type over any you want to change, and pick a dash or underscore, capitals or small letters.
  3. Copy all or download the CSV, and paste the IDs into your listing sheet. Already have SKU IDs? Open Check a list and paste them to find repeats first.

Questions sellers ask about SKU IDs

What is a SKU ID on Meesho?

It is your own code for one product, which you type when you list it. Meesho shows it on your orders, labels and payment files, so you can see which piece to pack and which one sold. Meesho does not make it for you, so pick a short pattern you can read at a glance, like KRT-BLU-01: kurti, blue, design 01.

Can I change a SKU ID after listing?

On Amazon and Flipkart, sellers and listing services report that you cannot: a new SKU ID usually means listing the product again. We found no Meesho page that says either way. So settle on one pattern before you list, and check your list here for repeats and odd characters first.

How long can a SKU ID be?

Amazon allows up to 40 characters, as seller tools quoting Amazon's help report (checked 21 Oct 2026). We found no published number for Meesho or Flipkart. The checker marks anything over 40, and the maker's IDs are usually 10 to 15 characters. Shorter is easier to read on a label and a pick list.

Does each size and colour need its own SKU ID?

Each colour usually gets its own SKU ID. Size depends on the marketplace. On Meesho, the size sits in its own column beside the SKU ID in your order files, so one SKU ID can cover all sizes of a design: KRT-BLU-01. Flipkart and Amazon need one SKU ID per size, so there you add the size: KRT-BLU-M-01, KRT-BLU-L-01. A product without sizes needs no size in the ID at all.

Should I use the same SKU ID on every marketplace?

It helps. The same ID for the same piece on Meesho, Flipkart and Amazon means one row per product in your own stock and cost sheet. Keep to letters, numbers, - and _, and 40 characters or fewer, and the ID fits every rule we could find for all three.
