Meesho claims for wrong, damaged or incomplete returns

Raise the claim the same day you open the parcel. A claim is money Meesho pays back when a returned or RTO parcel comes back wrong, damaged, used, with items missing, or as an empty box. Raise a ticket from Support in your panel, with an unboxing video.

A claim is not automatic. You raise a ticket, Meesho checks your case, and if it is approved the money comes in a later payment. Nobody can promise a claim will be approved, whatever a YouTube video says. What you can do is give proof that is hard to say no to, and raise it fast.

The unboxing video

  • Start recording before you cut the tape. A video of a packet that was already open proves nothing.
  • Show all sides of the packet, and any torn or extra-taped part up close.
  • Show the label clearly, with the AWB number (the courier's tracking number) and the order ID. Meesho puts the AWB number in the claim's reason in your payment file, so it matters.
  • Record in one go, slowly, without cuts. Then show what is inside.
  • Also take a photo of the product and a photo of the label.

Check the Support section for any rule on video size or file type before you upload. Keep the phone steady and the label sharp: that matters most.

How to raise the claim

  1. In your supplier panel, click Support on the left.
  2. Click Raise a Ticket and pick the problem that matches what came back.
  3. Add the Sub Order No, the video and the photos, then click Submit.
  4. Follow it in the My Tickets tab.

Meesho's older help lesson shows these steps; the screen in your panel may look a little different. If the packet already looked torn when the courier handed it over, say so in the ticket.

How claim money shows in your payment file

A claim in the payment file
Sub Order NoSame as the orderSearch it to see the claim next to its return
Live Order Status(blank)Claims come with no status
Claims₹432Money paid to you
Claims ReasonWrong product received in return … AWBWhy, with the courier's AWB number at the end

Example values. The column names are the real ones from the payment file.

In the payment files we checked (one clothing store), claims came on their own, with a blank status, about 2 to 4 weeks after the order. About 70% said "Wrong product received in return" and about 25% "Wrong or missing items in RTO order". The rest said "Missing items in returned order" or "Damaged or used product received in return".

A typical claim was about ₹580 (₹180 to ₹650). Most often it was about 80% of what the customer paid, sometimes about 40%. So a claim may not cover the full price. The Compensation and Recovery sheet was empty: the claims came in Order Payments.

Worked example

A ₹540 order comes back with the wrong product

Return shippingThe usual return charge−₹175
Your piece, which did not come backWhat it cost you−₹250
PackagingSpent when you shipped it−₹14
Claim paid80% of ₹540, the share we saw most often₹432
Left after the claim−₹7

Example numbers. The claim gets you back to about even; it does not pay you the sale. Delivered, this order would have left you about ₹228. With a 40% claim (₹216) you would be ₹223 down, and with no claim ₹439 down.

Check your claim was paid

  1. Open Order Payments and filter Live Order Status to blank.
  2. Look for an amount in Claims. The reason is in Claims Reason.
  3. Search the Sub Order No to see the sale, the return and the claim together. One order can show up 2 to 4 times.
  4. Nothing about 4 weeks after the order? Check the ticket in My Tickets.

Questions sellers ask

How do I claim a wrong return on Meesho?

In your supplier panel go to Support, click Raise a Ticket and pick the matching problem. Add the Sub Order No, an unboxing video, a photo of the product and a photo of the courier label. Do it the day the parcel reaches you.

What is the time limit for a Meesho claim?

Check the current limit in your panel's Support section. We found no public Meesho page that gives it today, so raise the claim as soon as you open the parcel.

What is the Meesho claim video format?

Start recording before you open the packet, show all sides, show the label with the AWB number and order ID, and record in one go without cuts. Check the Support section for any size or file type rule.

What should I write in the claim description?

One plain sentence on what came back, with the Sub Order No and the AWB number. For example: "Wrong product received in return. AWB …". That is the same shape as the Claims Reason in your payment file.

Can I raise a claim for an RTO on Meesho?

Yes. About 25% of the claims we saw were "Wrong or missing items in RTO order". Raise it the same way, from Support, and check the RTO claim rules there first.

When does Meesho pay a claim?

In our files, about 2 to 4 weeks after the order, on its own with a blank status. The money is in the Claims column of Order Payments.

How much does Meesho pay for a claim?

A typical claim we saw was about ₹580, most often about 80% of what the customer paid and sometimes about 40%. It may not cover the full price.
