Example numbers. The headings are the real column names in the file. The sheet also has hsn_code, gst_rate and more.
What is in the GST report
You download it from your supplier panel, one zip per month. We could not check the menu path on a current Meesho page, so we don't name it; if you can't find it, ask Support. The zip has two files. tcs_sales has a row for each order shipped that month. tcs_sales_return has a row for each return or RTO closed that month, with a cancel_return_date. Both carry your GSTIN, or your enrolment ID in enrollment_no if you sell without GST.
Worked example
How one sale adds up (5% GST)
| total_taxable_sale_valueIncludes ₹38.10 of shipping | ₹514.29 |
| tax_amount (5%) | ₹25.71 |
| total_invoice_value | ₹540 |
Example numbers. In the reports we checked (one clothing store, 5% GST), the invoice value matched the payment file's Total Sale Amount on about 9 in 10 orders.
About 96 in 100 invoices went to another State and showed IGST 5%. The rest showed CGST 2.5% + SGST 2.5%. That store sells at 5% only, so your rates can differ.
Shipping month, not payment month
A sale sits in the month it shipped. A return sits in the month it closed: about 1 in 7 returns fell in the month after the sale. The payment file goes by payment date, about two weeks after the order, so the two will not match month for month. See how to read the payment file.
RTO shows as a sale, then a return
- Sales sheet, June
Stays a sale
- Sales sheet, June
- Return sheet, July
A sale, then taken back
- Sales sheet, June
- Return sheet, month it closed
A sale, then taken back
The report counts shipped orders, not delivered ones.
So the sales sheet alone shows more sales than you made. Read both sheets together. We also saw a few rows with quantity 0 (about 20 of 610) and a few orders listed twice. We don't know why, so ask your CA to check before adding up.
Worked example
One month, both sheets
| Sales sheet: sale without GST | ₹1,00,000 |
| Return sheet: sale without GST | −₹20,000 |
| Sales less returns | ₹80,000 |
Example numbers. Marketplace TCS is worked out on the month's sales less returns, so expect about ₹400 of TCS here (0.5% of ₹80,000).
Why your TCS may not match
The TCS on the GST portal comes from the marketplace's monthly TCS return (GSTR-8), and it should follow the GST report: 0.5% of the month's sales less returns. It will not match what you add up from other places, for these reasons:
- Payment month is not shipping month. Your payment file counts TCS by payment date, about two weeks after the order.
- Returns and RTO come off later. About 1 in 7 returns closed in the month after the sale, so they lower the next month's TCS.
- An RTO counts as a sale first. It adds TCS in the month it shipped and takes it off when it comes back.
- Statuses change. A few orders shown as Cancelled were paid first and taken back later as an RTO.
- Small differences. On about 1 in 10 orders, the amount in the GST report differed from the payment file.
So check one month at a time: 0.5% of (sales sheet − return sheet) should come close to the TCS credit for that month on the portal. If it is far off, send both to your CA.
How your CA uses it for GSTR-1
- Takes the returns away from the sales, using both sheets.
- Sorts the sales by the customer's State and the GST rate. Another State means IGST; your own State means CGST + SGST.
- Puts them in the usual GSTR-1 tables. Which table is their call.
- Adds Table 14, an extra summary of marketplace sales: one row per marketplace GSTIN, copied from the eco_tcs_gstin column. It does not add any tax by itself.
What to send your CA each month
- The GST report zip, with both files: tcs_sales and tcs_sales_return.
- The tax invoice zip from the panel: your invoices and credit notes (a credit note cancels the invoice for a return or RTO), with a details sheet listing them.
- Your payment files for the month, if they check TCS and TDS order by order.
The TCS itself is claimed on the GST portal, in the TDS/TCS Credit Received statement. Steps in Meesho TCS and TDS.
Questions sellers ask
What is in the Meesho GST report?
Two sheets a month: tcs_sales (orders shipped) and tcs_sales_return (returns and RTO closed), with the sale without GST, GST, the customer's State, HSN and the marketplace's GSTIN.
How do I download the Meesho GST report?
From your supplier panel, one zip per month with tcs_sales and tcs_sales_return inside. We could not check the menu path on a current Meesho page, so if you can't find it, ask Support.
Is the Meesho GST report by order date or shipping date?
Sales go by the shipping (manifest) date, returns by the date the return closed. Not by payment date.
Why doesn't my Meesho TCS match my sales?
TCS should follow the GST report: shipping month, less returns closed that month. Your payments go by payment date, returns and RTO often come off a month later, and an RTO counts as a sale first.
What is Meesho's TCS GSTIN for GSTR-1 Table 14?
It is in the eco_tcs_gstin column of your own GST report. Copy it from there.
Who files GSTR-1 for a Meesho seller?
You do, as the registered seller, usually through a CA. The marketplace files its own TCS return, GSTR-8.

OrderLens reads your Meesho payment files and shows each order's sale, returns, TCS and what was paid. It's free for now.
