From each marketplace's own seller pages, opened 14 October 2026. Meesho also from one clothing store's payment files.
Amazon changed its fees in March, August and September this year, so look at the "Checked on" date before you price with this page.
Amazon: ₹0 referral fee, ₹78 in other fees
Amazon's fee table says the referral fee (Amazon's name for commission) is 0% for items priced up to ₹1,000, in 1,800+ categories, clothing included, since 16 March 2026. Two fees stay on an Easy Ship order: the closing fee and the shipping fee.
Worked example
A ₹499 kurta on Amazon Easy Ship, up to 500 g
| Selling price | ₹499 |
| Referral fee (0% up to ₹1,000) | ₹0 |
| Closing fee (₹301 to ₹500) | −₹23 |
| Easy Ship shipping, first 500 gStandard level, where every new seller starts | −₹55 |
| 18% GST on ₹78 of fees | −₹14.04 |
| Paid to you, before TCS and TDS | ₹406.96 |
Worked out from Amazon's own rates, 14 October 2026. Basic, the level below Standard, pays ₹59 shipping; Advanced and Premium pay ₹53. A regular GST seller (not composition) can claim this GST back as input credit, with the marketplace's tax invoice. Ask your CA.
The closing fee moves with the price (₹2 up to ₹300, ₹79 above ₹1,000), and above ₹1,000 the referral fee comes back, for example 16.5% on ethnic wear. Every band and weight: Amazon closing fee and Easy Ship charges.
Meesho: ₹0 commission, and the customer pays most of the shipping
Meesho's pricing page says "Meesho charges 0% Commission rate across all categories", with no collection fee and no penalty. In one clothing store's payment files, May to October 2026, commission and every fixed or platform fee was ₹0. On a normal delivered order, what Meesho takes is forward shipping, and the customer has already paid most of it on top of your price.
Worked example
A ₹499 kurta on Meesho
| Your price | ₹499 |
| Customer paid for shipping, on top of your price | ₹35 |
| Forward shipping taken (includes 18% GST) | −₹43 |
| Commission | ₹0 |
| Collection fee and penalties | ₹0 |
| Paid to you, before TCS and TDS | ₹491 |
Example numbers. ₹43 was the usual forward shipping, about ₹8 more than the customer paid, in the files we checked. Every charge explained: what Meesho takes from your payment.
Flipkart: ₹0 commission on fashion, other fees in your dashboard
Flipkart's fees page says: "We offer a 0% commission on all products priced below ₹1,000, regardless of category." Since 8 July 2026 the whole Fashion category is 0% at any price. The other fees are not public: "To access the rate card, create your seller account to view it on the seller dashboard."
- Fixed fee per item (Flipkart says it is "also known as the closing fee"). It depends on your seller tier, and Flipkart publishes only the difference: Platinum pays ₹15 to ₹30 less than the base rate, Gold and Silver pay the base rate, Bronze pays ₹10 more. The base rate is in your dashboard.
- What else? The current fees page names only the fixed fee and commission. A Flipkart seller blog post about a year old adds shipping by weight and distance, free local and zonal under 500 g; a collection fee on cash on delivery orders, a % of the order value; and GST on the fees. Check all three in your rate card: they may have changed.
- Shopsy: 0% commission on all Shopsy categories, and the same seller dashboard as Flipkart.
So public pages are not enough for a ₹499 Flipkart example. Put the rates from your own dashboard into the Flipkart calculator.
Myntra and Snapdeal: almost nothing is public
- Myntra runs a zero commission offer for "digital-first made-in-India D2C brands" (brands that sell straight to customers); its terms are not public. To sell at all you need a trademark certificate or a brand owner's NOC. There is no onboarding fee, but new sellers pay a one-time growth enablement charge, taken from payouts and given back as ad credit. Myntra does not publish that amount, its commission or its shipping rates: they are in the Partner Portal.
- Snapdeal's sign-up page says "0% Commission*" and does not explain the star. Fee amounts are in the Seller Panel.
Blogs quote numbers for both. We found no official source for them, so we don't repeat them. Use the Myntra or Snapdeal calculator with the rates from your own panel.
What comes on top, on every marketplace
Returns, ads, packaging, and TCS and TDS (small taxes the marketplace cuts and pays to the government in your name: TCS and TDS explained) are not in the examples above. Cancelling an order yourself can cost money too: see cancellation charges on Amazon and Flipkart. And the day the money arrives differs: when each marketplace pays.
Questions sellers ask
How much commission does Flipkart take?
₹0 on any product under ₹1,000 and on all fashion at any price, says Flipkart's fees page. A fixed fee by seller tier still applies, and an older Flipkart blog post adds shipping, a collection fee on cash on delivery orders, and GST on the fees. The amounts are in your seller dashboard.
What is Flipkart's zero commission policy?
Flipkart charges 0% commission on every product under ₹1,000 in any category, and since 8 July 2026 on all fashion at any price. Shopsy is 0% in all its categories. Other fees still apply.
How much commission does Amazon take on clothes?
₹0 up to ₹1,000 since 16 March 2026: Amazon calls it the referral fee. Above ₹1,000 it is 16.5% on ethnic wear, 19% on dresses, 23% on men's T-shirts. A closing fee and shipping still apply: ₹23 and ₹55 on a ₹499 Easy Ship order up to 500 g, plus 18% GST.
How much commission does Myntra charge?
Myntra does not publish it. Commission, shipping and the one-time growth enablement charge are in its Partner Portal. A zero commission offer exists for made-in-India brands that sell straight to customers.
Meesho vs Flipkart vs Amazon: which is best for sellers?
We don't rank them. Fees are one part; prices, returns and how many orders you get differ too. Put the same product into each free calculator with your own rates and compare what you keep.
Is GST charged on marketplace fees?
Yes. Amazon adds 18% GST to all its fees, Flipkart's older seller blog says GST is added on its fees, and Meesho's shipping charge already includes 18% GST. A regular GST seller (not composition) can claim this GST back as input credit, with the marketplace's tax invoice. Ask your CA.
